Sustainable living is the only way to maintain a wonderful life
for ourselves and generations to come.

Unique solutions to the global warming crisis.

Ideas becoming reality.

Many scientists are now saying "It's too late" to save the Earth and life as we know it due to global warming and other things. We believe we can't give up and must try. Sustainability is an emergency preventative measure to those ends.

As many people are highly charged about the "pro-choice" vs. "pro-life" issue,  most have an opinion. If we don't all act immediately though, there will be no more need for that, animal rights, or environmental arguments. Because there will be no more "life" as we know it.

SusPro.ORG is just one tool of many you can use, and must, if we are to survive. It's no longer "wackos" making absurd claims, simply totally agreed upon scientific fact. Supporting us and our supporters, generously, is a vote for life support. We ARE doing something about it, as much as possible.

SusPro is an IRS 501c3 non-profit organization.

Sustainable and Alternative Shelter

Menu of Photos by 2 of our Favorite Architects, and have also contributed plans to the Suspro project (also see links page for more info).

OUR VISION AND MISSION FOR SHELTER:

  • Building methods for all economic classes, that make the best use of local resources, integrate "organically" into their environments, and have maximum energy efficiency for their local conditions.

  • Preserving as much open space as possible, adding to nature rather than detracting and using up "green space", and conserving pure water.

HOUSING GOAL: "BUILDING" ON THE FOUNDATION

The sister of sustainability is shelter. The region in which someone lives, effects the possible choices they have for energy efficient, environmentally friendly, practical, inexpensive housing.

In some areas, there is plenty of straw, and if not used, it will just be burned and pollute the environment on top of it.  In other areas, there is no straw.  Some areas have low cost concrete available.  Almost everywhere there is dirt.  So we will be creating a variety of alternative habitats, and teaching various methods of building, including (but not limited to), Straw Bale, Earth-Sheltered, Ferro-cement, Pumice-cement, Dirt/Clay Filled Bag, Domes, etc..

In particular, Earth-Sheltered housing, barns, root-cellars, and greenhouses require almost no energy to heat or cool.

Besides trying to obtain grants & contributions, and using hundreds of thousands in personal family savings prior to getting our non-profit status, we are asking for volunteer building assistance, supervisors, and architects. Some have already offered their talents.

This project is destined to get widespread exposure, and we will vocally credit the experts in the various construction styles, who help us with the initial buildings.  Please call to offer your services as either a supervisor/expert, or skilled/non-skilled worker.  This is also a great opportunity for those with or without skills, to learn more, and make a difference.
