Develop new crop production, land use, & construction methods that will increase the quality of life for all, while preserving the best of traditional ways of life. The projects will have the following criteria in common:
OUR GENERAL VISION AND MISSION STATEMENT FOR FOOD, SHELTER, & LAND:
Of course that's a tall order. But impossible? No. We've got some great ideas. And we can "pull it off" just by showing people how to help themselves, and having them "pass it on". We welcome you to read our ideas, and decide for yourself. We're starting with food and alternative housing because they're fundamental aspects of life. Based on our experience, both can be dealt with far more energy efficiency, cheaply, and simply. We can also maintain very comfortable lifestyles, while remaining “Earth-friendly” and “sustainable” (using renewable energy resources that don’t get "used up" or harm our environment). We're combining cutting edge, yet eco-friendly technologies with sometimes forgotten ancient methods. We approach this with a philosophy of experimentation and finding out what works and what doesn't ourselves first. Then we share what we’ve learned in hopes that others will benefit, and also pass along the knowledge. Sharing our skills and knowledge is an important key. Have you seen the movies "Pay it Forward" or "Meet John Doe"? They realistically depict the power that "grass roots movements" can have. It also applies to our belief that if you teach people to help themselves, and they do the same, benefits spread like wild fire - each flame enlightening many others. No one loses - we all win. BUILDING ON THE FOUNDATION – A SUMMARY We want to create experimental, practical working models of sustainable, super energy efficient, eco-friendly alternative crop production systems and housing, that will be used for education, and can be implemented by most anyone, from the rich to the poor, world-wide. Rather than taking a band-aid or temporary fix approach to improving food & shelter based problems, we're taking the permanent solution approach. We believe that rather than trying to "put our finger in the hole in the dike", we need to re-think, and re-build the dike. Of course, we can't help everyone, no one can, and no approach can, but at least we can help many – especially those who still have the pioneer spirit, and are willing to help themselves. We welcome you to join us, or make a tax-deductible contribution. One of our goals is to also have a retreat and sustainable living education center where people can get hands on training and experience in sustainable agriculture and sustainable development in construction methods. Hopefully, we’ll see you there some day.
